JOCELYN BROWN
Founder, Chief Creative Officer
Reality Club
Jocelyn Michelle Brown works at the intersection of music supervision, licensing, and cultural strategy. She is the founder and principal of Reality Club, a Los Angeles-based creative consultancy that puts music to work as a marketing and storytelling tool for artists, labels, filmmakers, agencies and brands. She also serves as Director of Licensing, Sync and A&R at International Anthem Publishing, home to one of independent music's most future-forward catalogs.
She learned craft and speed during her time working in advertising agencies, carrying substantive workloads for more than fifty agency brand clients on two-and three-business day turnarounds. Today that experience shows up in Reality Club’s service offerings for brands and agencies, delivered at campaign speed: Creative music strategy and licensing guidance that keeps big ideas clearable and adds value on behalf of clients.
Reality Club also offers creative strategy for independent artists and the labels that work with them, helping them to execute their vision and make sound decisions, strategizing both short and long-term planning that keeps artists paid and protected.
Jocelyn thrives within these intersections and is at her best working to serve creativity, curiosity, feeling and the planning around strong ideas. The work that Reality Club does builds from a simple conviction: Let curiosity lead.

"Hands down, the independent music community in Chicago. Chicago is a city full of workers, and nowhere is this more evident than within the independent music community there. There's a strong work ethic present. I've found that people have the mentality that there's room for everyone to participate and contribute, but you have to show up and do the work - that's the agreement that we all accepted and the standard that we've held ourselves to, even if we've left the city and gone on to other places and things. I was welcomed into that environment over twenty years ago, the independent music community is still going strong in that way and holding myself to the standard generated from it has materially brought more fun, more love, more meaning into my life in ways that I'll never be able to repay."
